Bayer eyes to ascend up the league table as they travel to Opel Arena today as FSV Mainz host Bayer Leverkusen for their Germain Bundesliga campaign.
Things looked pretty good for the Bayer’ side After Bayern took over Bayern Munich on Saturday. However, losing 2-1 to Heidenheim on DFB Cup on Tuesday has things on doubt recently.
Kick-off Time: 8.30pm CET/7.30pm GMT/2.30pm ET
2019 has been a great year for Mainz until last weekend as they lost 3-0 to Augsburg. After consecutive wins against Stuttgart and Nurnberg, Mainz are comfortable seat relaxed above the relegation zone. Maniz wouldn’t want to give away points to hamper their run in the league table.
Under new coach Peter, Bayer is looking incredibly stable. Bayer has already beaten Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich in the 2018-19 season. With their DFA cup debacle against Heidenheim, Bayer had a tough job in the German league.
Rather than in the defense, Mainz and Bayer both have been good in front of the goal. With an average of 1.1 goals per game, Mainz has conceded 22 goals so far. Bayer has conceded 32 goals in 20 games in the league cup; 1.5 goals per game. It will be interesting to witness which side make pass the goal line first.
